Bensted’s Charity (registered no. 287497) provides grants for the relief of distress and sickness, and support for social welfare, recreation and education for the residents of the twenty-four parishes east of Teynham within the Swale Borough Council area.

In its current form the charity was established in 1989 using the proceeds from the sale of the former Faversham Union Workhouse. Since then, the charity has awarded grants to individuals and community organisations totalling more than £575,000.
